Rev. David Howell: Stated Supply Pastor

Rev. Howell comes to us from John Knox Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC where he served as the Associate Pastor of Youth and Young Adults. In his position at John Knox, he coordinated the Christian education programs, mission projects, and other activities for junior and senior high students as well as worked with young adults as they sought fellowship and service opportunities at John Knox and in the community. David's goal was to provide a safe, theologically sound, and exciting environment for youth and young adults.

Rev. Howell has a wealth of ministerial and professional work experience which includes serving as a chaplain intern at Greenville Hospital System, youth director and new member coordinator at John Knox before his ordination; he also worked with a major accounting firm as a senior IT, operations, business manager and marketing customer service consultant.

David is a 1988 Clemson graduate with a BS in management and a 2010 graduate of Erskine Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity. His family includes his wife Angie, who works as a bank vice president, his daughter Katherine, who is a junior at Wofford College, and his son Will who is a freshman at the College of Charleston - plus several dear "fuzzy kids.

Rachel Epps: Director of Youth & Young Adults

Rae grew up outside of Atlanta in Lawrenceville, GA. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Religious Studies and a minor in Dance. She was blessed to be a part of Presbyterian Student Association campus ministry throughout her college career, which connected her to Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. It was at MPPC where she met her husband, Steven (who also was a PSAer during his time at Wofford!). They have three beautiful daughters, Millie, Mollie and Marlee, along with two sons of the feline persuasion, Scooter and Paco.

Rae loves spending time with her family, has a passion for mission, and loves everything about ballet. Her favorite color is pink and she enjoys short walks on the beach (because she'd rather just lay in the sun and read a good book!).

Rae is excited to be a part of the Second Pres family and to walk with the youth and young adults of this church on their journeys.

Bethany Keaton: Administrative Assistant

Bethany was born a northerner (from Indiana), but she claims the south as her home.  She was raised in a pastor's home and her parents' ministry brought their family from Cincinnati, OH to Spartanburg, SC in 2002.  She grew up with three brothers, learning quickly to fend for herself as the only girl.  She attended Dorman High School and Spartanburg Methodist College.

Bethany enjoys singing, sports, weekend visits to the lake, trying new recipes and most of all making memories with her family and friends.  Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “
"For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Bethany has work experience in medical and insurance offices and is now looking forward to a new adventure here in the church office.  She is excited to see what God has in store for the next chapter of her life.
